Martin is an independent documentary photographer based in Manila, Philippines. He was a fellow of the Konrad Adanauer Stiftung Media Programme Asia, and a visual journalism graduate of the Asian Center for Journalism in Ateneo de Manila. He was also a participant at the Angkor Photo Festival Workshops in 2019.
His work revolves around the interplay between history and traditions. His ongoing project ‘Youth of the Nation Within‘ looks into the role of identity in the lingering lure of militancy among youth in Southern Philippines.
He is published globally on The Washington Post, The Guardian, VICE, South China Morning Post, and Al Jazeera. He works non-profit organizations such as the International Committee of the Red Cross, and the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees. He regularly takes on editorial assignments with Rappler.com and Ink Global.
